Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing inspects construction of detour in Kengtung

Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min AungHlaing, accompanied by Council Member Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun and U Sai Lone Saing, Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo of the State Administration Council, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Moe Aung, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and Commander of Triangle Region Command Brig-Gen Myo Min Tun, inspected construction of the detour in Kengtung this evening.

First, the Senior General heard reports on construction of the 10 kilometre long and 7 metre  wide asphalt-concrete Kengtung detour on Meiktila-Taunggyi-Kengtung-Tachilek highway, completion of 1.23 kilometre section of the road and future tasks presented by Director (Civil) U Ye Lin of the Shan State (East) Department of Highways.

After hearing the reports, the Senior General gave instructions on meeting the set standards in construction of asphalt-concrete roads, construction of drains along the road by calculating the necessary width according to road levels to prevent the damage of the road by accumulation of water on the road, taking the weather conditions of Kengtung into consideration in construction of the road and drawing designs for bridge along the road.

Then, the Senior General inspected the construction works carried out along the designated earthen road with the use machinery by car and attended to the needs.

Afterwards, the Senior General and party made a pilgrimage to the Mahamyatmuni Pagoda, the landmark of Kengtung, where members of the pagoda board of trustees welcomed the Senior General and party. Then, the Senior General paid homage to the Mahamyatmuni Buddha Image and offered flowers, water, lights and gold foils before presenting cash donations to the pagoda board of trustees. Then, the Senior General gave instructions on making preparations for celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the pagoda, which falls on the full moon day of Tazaungmone to the members of the pagoda board of trustees and officials.
