A ceremony to confer religious titles took place at the Sasana Maha Beikman in the Uppatasanti Pagoda compound, Nay Pyi Taw, this afternoon, and Chairman of the State Administration Council Commanderin- Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla attended it and conferred the religious titles.
Also present at the ceremony were Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Presiding Nayaka of Bhamo Monastery, Mandalay, Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhammajotika Bhamo Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Kumarabhivamsa, Secretary Principal of Minkyaung Pahtamapyan Learning Centre, Thanlyin, Agga Maha Pandita Maha Saddhammajotika Dhaja Dr Bhaddanta Candimabhivamsa and members of the Sangha who would receive the titles. The Senior General and wife were accompanied by Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, council members General Mya Tun Oo, Admiral Tin Aung San, General Maung Maung Kyaw, Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun, Mahn Nyein Maung, Daw Aye Nu Sein, U Moung Har, U Sai Lone Hsaing and Dr Banya Aung Moe, Secretary Lt-Gen Aung Lin Dway, Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, Chief Justice of the Union U Tun Tun Oo, Chairman of Constitutional Tribunal U Than Kyaw, Chairman of Union Election Commission U Thein Soe, Union ministers, the chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air), the Commanderin- Chief (Navy), the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command and their wives and officials.
The ceremony was opened with a threetime recitation of Namo Tassa. The Senior General and wife and the congregation received the Five Precepts from the Bhamo Sayadaw. Next, Presiding Nayaka of Bhaddanta Gandama of Bago Myoma Learning Centre in Bago Region delivered the Sammodaniya Ovada Katha, who would be receiving the title of Abhidhaja Maharattha Guru and Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko supplicated on religious matters. Then, the ceremony to confer religious titles came, and the Senior General conferred the title of Abhidhaja Maharattha Guru and regalia on Presiding Nayaka of Bhaddanta Gandama of Bago Myoma Learning Centre.
The Vice-Senior General conferred the title of Abhidhaja Maharattha Guru and regalia on Sayadaw Bhaddanta Eindaka of Nyaungkan Monastery in Chanmyathazi Township, Mandalay Region; council member General Mya Tun Oo on Sayadaw Bhaddanta Suriya of Maha Weitza Theikpan Learning Centre in Monywa, Sagaing Region; and council member Admiral Tin Aung San on Sayadaw Bhaddanta Vimalabhivamsa of Aungmyay Thaya Wunmingyi Monastery in Yesagyo, Magway Region. Council member General Maung Maung Kyaw conferred the title of Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhammajotika and regalia on Sayadaw Bhaddanta Sumana of Zwegaik Middle Monastic Education School in Kawa Township, Bago Region; council member Lt- Gen Moe Myint Tun on Sayadaw Bhaddanta Candasiri of Myoshe (YwaU) Sandayon Pariyatti Learning Centre in Tatkon Township, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area; council member Mahn Nyein Maung on Sayadaw Bhaddanta Candavara of Kanyinchaung Village Kyaungdawya Monastery in Ngapudaw Township, Ayeyawady Region; and council member Daw Aye Nu Sein on Sayadaw Bhaddanta Pannavamsa of Shwe Pariyatti Learning Centre in Pabedan Ward, Mawlamyine, Mon State.
Then, Members U Moung Har, U Sai Lone Hsaing and Dr Banya Aung Moe conferred Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru titles and insignias on Aungminglar Monastery Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Pinnya Sarmi of Mrauk-U in Rakhine State, Zeyawadi Monastery of Moekaung Taik Sayadaw Bhaddanta Sujana Bhivamsa of Chanaye Tharzan Township in Mandalay Region and Phetbinaing Learning Centre Sayadaw Bhaddanta Vasetha of Thingangyun Township in Yangon Region.
Afterwards, Secretary Lt-Gen Aung Lin Dway and Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo conferred the Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru titles and insignias on Yadana Beikman Chanthargyi Monastry Sayadaw Bhaddanta Jotikarbhivamsa of Mandalay and Minkyaung Learning Centre Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Velurira of Myittha in Mandalay Region. Afterwards, Union Chief Justice U Tun Tun Oo, Chairman of Constitutional Tribunal U Than Kyaw and Chairman of Union Election Commission U Thein Soe conferred Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamajotika titles and insignias on Ashei Kyaung Sayadaw Bhaddanta Sondhara of Kyauktan in Yangon Region, Shwe Thuwon Monastry Sayadaw Bhaddanta Saddhiya of Thingyanguyn Township in Yangon and Zeya Theikdi (Maha Twansara) Monastery Sayadaw Bhaddanta Kumara of Insein Township in Yangon Region. Then, Union Minister Lt-Gen Soe Htut, Union Minister U Wunna Maung Lwin, Union Minister Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung and Union Minister U Win Shein conferred Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru titles and insignias on Mani Yadana Learning Centre Sayadaw Bhaddanta Soma of Sittway in Rakhine State, Nigawdharyon Nyaungbinthar Learning Centre Sayadaw Bhaddanta Visuta of Pathein in Ayeyawady Region, Aletawya Sanpya Learning Centre Sayadaw Bhaddanta Ganda Malabhivamsa of Bahan Township in Yangon Region and Pali Karyi Learning Centre Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Eingisa of Thaketa Township in Yangon Region.
Then, Secretary of State Sangha Nayaka Committee Thanlyin Minkyaung Sayadaw delivered the Anumodana sermon and the Senior General and wife and the congregation shared merits for various donations before concluding the ceremony by three-time recitation of Buddha Sasanam Ciram Tisadu.
Thirteen Abhidhaja Maha Ratha Guru titles and seven Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhama Jotika titles were conferred on Sayadaws at the ceremony to confer religious titles for 2021.
