Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attends opening ceremony of 57th Myanmar Gems Emporium

The opening ceremony of the 57th Myanmar Gems Emporium was held at Maniyadana Jade Hall in Nay Pyi Taw, attended by Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

Present on the occasion together with the Senior General were SAC members Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun, U Khin Maung Swe, Jeng Phang Naw Taung, Mahn Nyein Maung, Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, Union ministers, the chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, the chairmanof Central Bank of Myanmar, the Nay Pyi Taw Command commander, departmental officials, officials of Myanmar Gems Entrepreneurs Association and invited guests.

The Senior General and attendees watched a video clip on the jewellery production process and the preparations for the emporium. The Senior General urged officials to sell pearl and gem lots also in Hong Kong dollar and Thai Baht at the coming emporiums, in addition to US dollar, Euro and Yuan.

The Senior General and attendees were conducted round the jade, gem and pearl lots displayed at the Maniyadana Jade Hall and raw jade lots including a 35-ton jade stone, the largest one of the show, displayed outside the hall byofficials.

The 35-ton stone is a section cut off from a very large boulder which is about 308 tons, found at the plot 2 run under mutual beneficial basis with the Stateof Metlinchaung mines in Hpakant gems area. It is a quality jade and its floor price is calculated at an estimated price of Euro 5 million.

The emporium continues till 28 April. The emporium will sell 330 pearl lots, 120 gem lots and 2,000 jade lots under open tender system in accord with the rules.

The Maniyadana Jade Hall also houses the private shops selling polished gems.

At the emporium, floor prices for pearl lots are set in USD.

Foreign and can buy them in USD and Yuan and local gem merchants in USD, Yuan and Kyat. As for jade and gem lots, floor prices are set in Euro.

But gem merchants can make payments for the purchase in USD, Euro and Yuan.

The Senior General and officials looked around the ongoing upgrading work of the Jade Garden. They also looked into the requirements of the reports presented by Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi and officials.

The Jade Garden was opened on an 8.26-acre land plot in 2010.

It displays 5,117 raw jade stones and 14,252 other precious raw stones. The garden has been under renovation and upgrading process since February 2022 in accord with the directives of the Senior General.
