Myanmar to export 150 tons of robusta coffee

In this coffee season, Myanmar will export 150 tons of Robusta low land coffee starting this month, according to the Coffee Research and Technology Dissemination Centre in PyinOoLwin.

The coffee will be exported to Thailand, the Republic of Korea and Japan from farms in Thandaunggyi Township area of Kayin State. The coffee beans cultivation and grinding process are now underway for export.

Last year, the Robusta low land coffee could fetch Ks-4,500 to Ks-5,000 for a viss, and Myanmar exported about 5 to 10 tons to foreign countries.

This year, the amount of Robusta low land coffee export to foreign countries will rise to 150 tons due to its high quality.
