NAY PYI TAW May 4

Vice Chairman of State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice - Senior General Soe Win, accompanied by Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Moe Aung, Lt-Gen Aung Soe of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army,Navy, and Air), Commander

Maj-Gen Saw Than Hlaing of the Coastal Region Command and responsible officers, met with officers, other ranks and families from the Mawlamyine and Dawei stations at respective halls of the stations separately and delivered speeches today.

First, the Vice-Senior General delivered speeches, saying it is necessary for each and every personnel to understand the duties as every personnel has been assigned with tasks under existing orders. Only when one realizes the reality, will one be able to accomplish one’s missions. When one has realized one’s missions, it is important for him to possess necessary training to implement the tasks practically. Only when one has been trained sufficiently, will one be able to apply modern weapons and machinery provided to him effectively. It is vital for members of operational support battalions to study the changing military science technologies in respective fields of studies without interruption. It is essential for instructor officers and other ranks to build up appropriate qualifications and behaviors that deserve the admiration of trainees. In exerting efforts to accomplish missions assigned, it is important to carry out the necessary administrative systems.

The administration of the Tatmadaw is operated by three pinions called the general staff affairs, the adjutant affairs and the quartermaster affairs while all rules and regulations and disciplines have been in place for all these functions.

From basic needs to healthcare services for personnel and family members have been provided as an administrative measure. Responsible officers at different levels are required to manage units in the best way by observing the policies, rules and regulations and disciplines of the Tatmadaw. In doing so,

commanders are required to treat personnel like true parents with the spirit of military leaders.

During the one year and three months period of taking responsibilities of the State, the State Administration Council has faced and handled attempts to overall destruction of the nation from saboteur and violent acts and internal and external incitements to destruction and defilement of the religion. Good civil servants and security personnel, working together with the people, have overcome the attempts. When there was a failure in an attempt to stop the administrative mechanism and depose the existing government, further attempts were made to disintegrate the Tatmadaw but such attempts were just wasted. It is necessary to stay united with a sense of alertness as such attempts are likely to be continued to cause dissension. As the main duty of the Tatmadaw is to defend the nation, efforts are to be made to defend the nation built by the ancestors in the successive eras for its endurance. To do so, there must be a solid solidarity among the Tatmadaw members and their families. As the Tatmadaw is currently playing a vital role in the important part of the State, it is required for the Tatmadaw members to be fit physically and spiritually to be dutiful in discharging assigned duties. Thus, it is necessary to stay fit and work smart individually with a sense of health awareness. The Vice-Senior General made coordination over the reports presented by the officers, other ranks and families with officials and fulfilled their needs.

Next, the Vice-Senior General presented foodstuff for the officers, other ranks and their families through officials.

After the meeting, the Vice- Senior General and party greeted the attendees.
