As Union is made up of all national races, priority must be given not only to development of one’s own national race, and state but also to national development

Chairman of State Administration Council Commanderin-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received the delegation led by Chairman Saw Htalt Lay of the Karen National Union, Karen National Liberation Army (Peace Council) - KNU/KNLA (PC) at the parlor of the Bayint Naung Yeiktha in Nay Pyi Taw this morning and discussed peace process.

Also present at the meeting together with the Senior General were Vice Chairman of State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, member of the SAC General Mya Tun Oo, Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun and Lt-Gen Yar Pyae while the chairman of the KNU/ KNLA (PC) was accompanied by Vice Chairperson Naw Ka Paw Htoo and Central Committee Member Saw Maung Maung.

During the discussions, the Senior General discussed the needs to exert efforts in the interest of the Union as states and regions are resided not by only one national race but by various national races and to give priority not only to one’s own state but also to national development as state and nation building tasks can be carried out more speedily after peace has been restored, the pragmatic implementation to enhance the educational qualifications in the entire country including the areas of national races as human resources full of knowledge and skills are essential in realizing the democracy system, matters related to adoption of democracy system that is in line with the will of the people and establishing a union system based on democracy and federal system.

Then, the chairman and the delegation of the KNU/KNLA (PC) exchanged their views on adoption of a multi-party democracy system and building a union based on democracy and federalism and reported to the Senior General on regional development tasks. Both sides frankly discussed matters related to the peace process and regional development tasks.

After the discussions, the Senior General presented gifts for the chairman and delegation of the KNU/KNLA (PC) and posed for documentary photographs with them.

The delegation led by the Chairman of the KNU/KNLA (PC) will hold peace talks with the peace negotiation teams made up of the members of the SAC, the Coordination Committee for Implementation of National Unity and Peace.
