State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing inspects works of Locomotive Factory (Insein) of Myanma Railways

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by members of the entourage, the Chief Minister of Yangon Region, thecommander of Yangon Command and officials, this morning inspected the locomotive factory (Insein) of Myanma Railways in Insein Township.

At the meeting hall of the Locomotive Factory (Insein) of Myanma Railways, Union Minister for Transport and Communications Admiral Tin Aung San and Managing Director Thura U Aung Myo Myint of Myanma Railways reported to the Senior General and party on brief history of the factory, its missions and visions, accomplishments, maintenance capacity, upgrade of locomotive power, manufacturing of parts, major maintenance of steamed locomotives and test running and capacity enhancement for staff, works of factory branches, worksite safety measures and fire preventive measures.

In his response, the Senior General said the rail transportation is of importance in a country. In repairing the locomotives, it is necessary to record maintenance process with the documentary photos. The Senior General stressed the need to systematically record the use and maintenance of locomotives since their purchases.

As locomotives are valuable, it is necessary to emphasize the best maintenance and upgrade of capacity as much as possible. Efforts must be made for running electric trains in Myanmar like that of international, he added. The Senior General pointed out that preparations must be made for building diesel electric multiple unit (DEMU) assembled with parts manufactured at home and abroad through international technologies for the first phase. Then, he stressed the need to prepare running of electric multiple unit (EMU) from the DEMU. Diesel locomotives are being used along the circular railway of Yangon, he said. Now, he continued to say that it is necessary to conduct researches on running of electric trains in the country.

Efforts must be made for using electric trains in major sites of the nation. It is necessary to ensure proper running of locomotives and carriages while emphasizing the smooth transportation along railways.

As electric locomotives will be used for rail transportation across the nation, the locomotive factory (Insein) needs to manufacture small electric locomotive under research works and then to upgrade the works for manufacturing the standard electric locomotives step by step, he added.

The Senior General presented foodstuffs for staff of the factory through the managing director.

The Senior General and party viewed round assembling locomotives, maintenance works, upgrade of locomotive capacity, transforming steam locomotives into the coal-fired locomotives, and manufacturing of spare parts for the locomotives. Officials conducted the Senior General and party round the factory.

At the circular diesel locomotive factory, the Senior General viewed round new DEMU carriages alreadyarrived from Japan and gave instructions to officials.

At Insein Railway Hospital, the Senior General heard reports on daily health care services for staff and families, retired staff and local people, requirement of health staff and health aid presented by the managing director and Chief Medical Officer Dr Than Min Htut. The Senior General pledged to provide health staff and aid for the hospital as much as possible.

The Senior General viewed round the hospital, cordially comforted patients and gave foodstuff to them.
