Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing holds peace talks with UWSP Vice Chairman U Lau Yaku

Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received a peace delegation led by Vice Chairman of United Wa State Party (UWSP) U Lau Yaku at the palour of Bayintnaung Villa here this morning and discussed matters relating to peace.

Also present at the meeting together with the Senior General were SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, SAC members General Mya Tun Oo, Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun and Lt-Gen Yar Pyae. The UWSP vice chairman was accompanied by Deputy Head of International Relations Bureau U Pauk Aikkaw and In-charge of Lashio of the bureau U Nyi Yang.

At the meeting, the Senior General explained the need to prioritize national development including the requirements of the country and ethnic peoples and regional progress as peace will facilitate regional and national development undertakings and to fulfill local requirements through cooperation in regional peace and stability and health and education for further progress of the relevant localities, the adoption of multiparty democracy that meets the people’s wishes, and the establishment of Union system based on democracy and federal system.

At the meeting, the UWSP vice chairman and delegation said their party agreed on the adoption of democracy and establishment of a Union system based on democracy and federal system and shared the party’s opinions. They also discussed regional development.

Then, views on peace, education, health and regional development were exchanged in a cordial atmosphere.

The Senior General presented commemorative gifts to the UWSP vice chairman and party, who in return presented local products to him. A photo session then followed.

The delegation led by UWSP vice chairman will continue peace talks with the Peace Talks Committee and the National Solidarity and Peace-making Negotiate Committee formed with SAC members.
