Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing visits Pathein Air Base HQ

Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his entourage members inspected Pathein Air Base Headquarters this morning.

At the briefing hall, Commandant Brig-Gen Tun Win reported to the Senior General on general, adjutant and quartermaster tasks, patrolling measures for regional and territorial waters security, welfare tasks for Tatmadaw officers and members and their families, agricultural and livestock breeding activities, and assistance for health, social and other affairs of the local populace.

In response to the report, the Senior General said for regional and territorial waters security, patrolling tasks in air and water spaces must be carried out through radar while the regional military command and air and naval bases need to cooperate in and be always ready for ensuing the rule of law and regional security. Security awareness and knowledge are necessary along the seashores and in the delta. Regarding agriculture and livestock breeding, a system must be adopted based on interrelationship and high yield. Then, the Senior General gave instructions on successful operation of Tatmadaw-owned agricultural and livestock farms so that Tatmadaw families can consume fish, meat, eggs and vegetables adequately at cheap prices.

Next, the Senior General and party inspected the Karki King duck farm, the broiler farm and the seasonal vegetable plantation of the Air Base and attended to the needs after hearing reports by officials.

Then, the Senior General and party inspected upgrading of Strand Road in Ward No.1 in Pathein. At the briefing hall, he heard reports on road upgrading presented by Director of Directorate of Military Engineering of the Commander-in-Chief ’s Office (Army) Maj-Gen Myo Thant and Director General of the Department of Water Resources and Improvement of River Systems U Win Hlaing.

In response to the reports, the Senior General said oceangoing vessels used to enter and exit Pathein. If repair and renovation measures are to be taken for ocean vessels to enter, commodity flow of the town will be quicker. Likewise, systematic storing of the Ngawin River water will benefit agriculture.

As Ayeyawady Region has just an average of over 120 rainy days a year, water resources must be tapped through solar power and river-water pumping projects, and fresh water must be systematically used, he said.

Later, the Senior General and party inspected progress in upgrading tasks and left necessary instructions.
