Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing opens Nay Pyi Taw State Academy

    The inauguration ceremony of the Nay Pyi Taw State Acade-my of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar was held this morning and Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing formally opened the academy and delivered an address.

Also present at the ceremony were Vice Chairman of State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win and council members General Mya Tun Oo, Admiral Tin Aung San, Daw Aye Nu Sein, Jean Phang Naw Taung, U Moung Har and U Sai Lone Hsai, union ministers and union-level officials, the chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, senior military officers, the comman-der of Nay Pyi Taw Command, deputy ministers, guests, faculty members and students.

First, SAC Member Daw Aye Nu Sein, Union Minister for Education Dr Nyunt Pe, Union Minister for Construction U Shwe Lay and Chairman U Tin Oo Lwin of the Nay Pyi Taw Council formally opened the inauguration ceremony.

Then, the Senior General unveiled the signboard of the academy by pressing the button and sprinkled scented water on the monument of the aca-demy.

Afterwards, the Vice-Senior General and attendees sprinkled scented water on the monument of the academy.

Then, the inauguration cere-mony was held at the function hall of the academy on the first floor of the main building and faculty members and students of the national university of fine arts and culture and musicians performed the opening song of the academy.

Afterwards, the Senior General delivered a speech, saying “Today’s ceremony is an auspicious and unique event as a leading university of the country, which will innovate the higher education sector, has been inaugurated in the capital city of Nay Pyi Taw. The purpose of establishing the academy is to turn Nay Pyi Taw into an education hub and to enable the offspring of government employees who perform duties in Nay Pyi Taw and residents of eight townships in Nay Pyi  Taw including  Zabu Thiri, Zeya Thiri, Ottara Thiri, Dakhina Thiri, Pobba Thiri, Pyinmana, Tatkon and Lewe townships to study various international-standard advanced academic disciplines of their choice. Moreover, efforts must be exerted to turn the academy into the leading university for wisdom, which nurture scholars who can promote the socioecono-mic life of the country and applied research by placing emphasis on teaching and learning methods based on reasoning. It is necessary to nurture precious educated citizens who are instilled with wisdom and noble spirit. 

It can be seen that the motto of the academy is “Pyinnar Eva Adhipati”, which refers to wisdom as the lord, guardian and leader. It means that the academy is a learning centre which upholds wisdom.

The Nay Pyi Taw State Acade-my is formed with the aim of shaping high level institutions of the State such as Yangon and Mandalay universities. It can be seen that the former is formed with formation of faculties similar to that of Yangon and Mandalay universities. These faculties are arts, science, law, economics, medical, social and sports faculties. The Senior Gen-eral expressed his satisfaction with recruitment for qualified faculties and subject-wise experts serving duties at the re-levant departments from Nay Pyi Taw at the academy.

The academy will admit stu-dents for the third year courses in 2022-2023 academic year, andyears of courses will be extended one after another. More-over, the academy will open the master’s courses and doctoral courses in order to turn out the qualified human resources for development of the State.

Including the Nay Pyi Taw State Academy, a total of 75 universities and degree colleges are under the Ministry of Education. Currently, a total of 175 universities, degree colleges and colleges under 11 ministries are being operated in the nation. The Nay Pyi Taw formed with the Nay Pyi Taw State Academy, University of Forestry and En-vironmental Science, University of Agriculture, and the Uni-versity of Veterinary Science with forthcoming technological university to be able to shape the education city.

The Nay Pyi Taw State Academy facilitated with highly-qualified academic systems, international syllabuses, modern teaching aid, practical rom equip-ment, laboratory apparatuses and modern library in addition to well-versed faculty members in order to meet the standard of Yangon and Mandalay univer-sities. Plans are underway to teach students to become the students with sharpening and high critical thinking power in knowledge and skills. It is necessary to prioritize the qualification of the students rather than the quantity. In the future, the academy needs to turn out many numbers of qualified students.

In addition, the Senior General stressed the need to conduct at least one course for doctoral students at on each university in regions and states.The government pledged to facilitate these universities of opening the doctoral courses with university characteristics.

The Senior General urged officials at different levels and faculty members to make efforts for the universities opening the doctoral courses to meet international level as well as that of the Yangon University which was accredited in the Southeast Asia in the post-independence era.

Every citizen must have at least one vocational technique to be able to have average living standard. As such, each basic education high school in 50 di-stricts will conduct agriculture, livestock and techical subjects for enhancement of socio-eco-nomy of the rural people, who are 70 percent of the total popu-lation of the nation, starting from coming academic year.Aiming to contributing to the micro, small and medium scale enterprises, the vocational training schools will be extended.

The students qualified at these-schools will have the chance to further pursue higher learning at relevant universities.

In accord with the motto: “start education reform with teachers”, only when teachers need to continuously learn for improvement of their knowle-dge, will students have improv-ed knowledge. As a Myanmar saying which goes: Students of qualified teachers get good result, only then, can well-versed teachers turn out the quali-fied students.

All are urged to encourage higher education by opening Nay Pyi Taw State Academy in Nay Pyi Taw and make efforts to promote Myanmar’s education through upgrading education standards at universities and schools across the nation as well. Students are to learn high standard education at Nay Pyi Taw State Academy sponsored by the State and serve for their own interest, community’s interest, regional interest and nation’s interest. Efforts are to be made so that the academy will be able to conduct training and learning courses that will contribute to the State and constantly produce experts and graduates and nurture them to become future leaders and good citizens. All are to work together in order that the standard of  Nay Pyi Taw State Academy will be higher and higher and better and better until it becomes a world-class university.

Afterwards, students from Meiktila University presented a performance with the song “Top University”. Then, the Senior General and party had a record photo taken with the attendees and cordially greeted faculty members and students.

Later, the Senior General and the attendees took a tour of the Nay Pyi Taw State Academy.

Nay Pyi Taw State Academy project began in Zabuthiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw Territory, in April this year with the aim of producing educated youths necessary for nation-building tasks and under the guidance of Chairman of State Admini-stration Council and Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. To ensure smoothness in teaching and learning edu-cation, facilities including tea-ching halls, auditorium, offices for academic and administration, classrooms, laboratories and library are built and equipp-ed at the academy. Children of local families including those of civil servants within Nay Pyi Taw Territory are able to learn high standard education at the academy.
