SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win meets departmental personnel, town elders, relief teams, philanthropic teams in Yathedaung

    Chairman of National Natural Disaster Management Committee Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win and party this afternoon inspected progress of rehabilitation in Yathedaung and met with departmental personnel, town elders, relief teams and philanthropic teams at the meeting hall of the Township General Administration Department.

A Tatmadaw official assigned to supervise rehabilitation tasks reported on loss and damage in the storm and progress of rehabilitation and construction.

The Vice-Senior General attended to the needs.

The Vice-Senior General in his address said that he came there to view progress of rehabilitation within one month period at the storm-hit towns and he expressed much progress of tasks at present in comparison with that of 18 May.

Next, the Vice-Senior General discussed arrangement for providing necessary seeds in time for this year’s cultivation season, repairing for the damaged saltwater preventive embankments, dredging of the drinking water lakes and cleaning them, arrangements for students to learn education under shelters, current learning situation, and more supply of rice from 10,000 tons of reserved rice (200,000 bags) stored before the storm for convenience of people from basic strata and attended to the needs of officials. Then, foodstuffs were presented to relevant departments, relief teams and philanthropic teams.

The Vice-Senior General paid homage to members of the Sangha at Aungmye Bawdi Dhamma Yeiktha Alodawpyae Monastery in Yathedaung and offered rice and alms.

The Vice-Senior General and party inspected progress in repairing the main building of Yathedaung People’s Hospital affected by the storm, comforted patients receiving medical treatment and presented foodstuffs and cash assistance.

The Vice-Senior General viewed learning of students at the Basic Education High School in Yathedaung, met with teachers and fulfilled their needs.
