State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister’s wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla attends Myanmar Women’s Day celebration

    Honorary Patron of Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, wife of the State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister, attended a ceremony to mark Myanmar Women’s Day 2023 held at Myanmar International Convention Center-2 here at 10 am today.

Also present were honorary patrons Daw Khin Thet Htay, Daw Than Than Nwe, the wife of SAC Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, SAC members and their wives, the wife of the Constitutional Tribunal Chairman, the Union Minister for Legal Affairs, the Chairperson of the National Committee for Women’s Affairs Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, the Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar, wives of Union Ministers, the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman and wife, the wife of the Nay Pyi Taw Command Commander, deputy ministers and their wives, departmental heads and staff, officials from Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation and women’s organizations, award winners and guests.

First, the video message of SAC Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing was shown. (The text of the message is separately published.)

Next, Chairperson of the National Committee for Women’s Affairs Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thet Thet Khaing gave a briefing on women development, the promotion of women’s rights and prevention of violence against women, Myanmar’s entry into the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (UNCEDAW) in 1997, making of the second draft report, Myanmar’s preparations to host an ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Women in 2024, its engagements in the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and the Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC) and the ASEAN ministerial meeting on social welfare and development and implementation of action plans, the drafting of the national strategy (2023-2032) for ASEAN women development, the drawing of a national plan for sexual violence prevention and response during conflict, preventive and response measures against gender-based violence, and movements and activities prior to Myanmar Women’s Day.

Then, a video clip on women development activities was shown to those in attendance.

After that, prizes were presented to the sector wise brilliant women. Daw Kyu Kyu Hla presented prizes to Second Lieutenant Theint Nandar Aung from the Tatmadaw (Army), Lieutenant Khaing Khant Khant Kyaw from the Tatmadaw (Navy) and Lieutenant Le Wai Aung from the Tatmadaw (Air); Daw Khin Thet Htay to Police Major Thuzar Lwin and Daw Khaing Mar Oo from the Red Cross Society; and Daw Than Than Nwe to outstanding woman with disabilities Ma Chaw Su Hlaing and outstanding woman athlete Ma Sandi Oo.

SAC member Daw Dwe Bu presented a prize to Ma Nandar Kyi Phyu Lin, who got the highest mark in the matriculation examination for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Later, the attendees posed for a documentary group photo and the products displayed at the event.
