The first birthday of the Yadana white elephant Rattha Nandaka (that means “our beloved white elephant that will bring prosperity and happiness to the nation”) was celebrated at Yadana White Hall in the compound of the Uppatasandi Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw this morning.
The birthday ceremony was attended by Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Vice Chairman of SAC Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, the Secretary of SAC and wife, the Joint Secretary of SAC and wife, members of SAC and wives, the Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) and wife, union level dignitaries, union ministers and wives, the Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, senior military officers and wives, the Commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command and officials.
Firstly, the master of ceremonies briefed on the profile of the Yadana white elephant ‘‘Rattha Nandaka.”
Then, the Senior General and wife and the Vice - Senior General and wife sprinkled scented water on the white elephant.
Afterwards, the Yadana white elephant Rattha Nandaka paid homage to the Uppatasandi Pagoda and the master of ceremonies read the lyrical ode on the birthday of the white elephant.
Then, the Senior General and wife presented a one-year birthday present for the white elephant through an official. The Senior General and wife and the Vice Senior General and wife treated the white elephant Rattha Nandaka and his mother elephant with food and nourishment.
Next, the birthday candle for the white elephant was blown out followed by the birthday wish and message by the master of ceremonies. To mark the first birthday of the white elephant that has come out for the tenth time in the country, 10 white doves were released and given sanctuary.
After the ceremony, the Senior General and wife marked the successful completion of the ceremony with a religious performance and treated white elephants and others at Yadana White Elephant Hall with food and nourishment together with the attendees.
The Yadana white elephant named Rattha Nandaka (that means our beloved white elephant that will bring prosperity and happiness to the nation) was born to Zar Nan Hla of the compound of Myanmar Timber Enterprise in Taungup Township of Rakhine State at 6:30 am on July 23, 2022. At birth, the white elephant was 2 feet and 5 inches in height, 3 feet and 1 inch in width and about 180 pounds in weight. Of the eight unique features, the white elephant consists of pearl-coloured eyes, plantain branchshaped back, white hair, a distinctive tail, auspicious plot signs of the skin, pinky skin, each limb having five claws and big ears. It arrived at Nay Pyi Taw on October 27, 2022 along with its mother elephant.
Now, in its one-year old age, the white elephant is 3 feet and 10 inches in height and 670 pounds in weight. He lives healthily and happily at Yadana White Elephant Hall in the compound of the Uppatasandi Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw. Rattha Nandaka is the 10th white elephant in the country.
