Vice Chairman of State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win delivers address at first coordination meeting of Central Committee for Organizing 76th Anniversary of Independence Day (2024)

    The first coordination meeting of the Central Committee for Organizing the 76th Anniversary of Independent Day (2024) was held at the meeting hall of the Office of the Chairman of the State Administration Council in Nay Pyi Taw this afternoon and Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win delivered an address at the meeting.

Also present at the meeting were members of the central committee union ministers, the chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command, deputy ministers, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and officials while chairmen of sub-committees participated in the meeting via video conferencing.

First, the Vice-Senior General delivered an address, saying the 76th Anniversary Independence Day (2024) would be held in accordance with five national objectives of national interests and national politics such as safeguarding Our Three Main National Causes of non-disintegration of the Union, non-disintegration of the national unity and perpetuation of sovereignty, promotion of all-round education sector to nurture human resources complete with knowledge, technical know-how, inherent qualities and capabilities in setting up a union system based on modern and developed democracy and federalism, exerting efforts for holding a free and fair election in accordance with the law and for offering universal suffrage to the entire country without gaps, cooperation of the entire people to restore stability by ending violence and to strengthen the multi-party democracy system and boosting MSME businesses that based on agriculture and livestock breeding. Although Independence Day would be organized in accordance with the five national objectives, roles currently taken by the State must be implemented.

The country had a good experience of successfully holding the Diamond Jubilee 75th Anniversary Independence Day (2023) ceremony on a grand scale at the national level through the cooperation of all.

This year's Independence Day ceremony would be organized as usual by holding three events such as the ceremony for flag raising in the morning, ceremony for presenting honorary titles in the afternoon and hosting dinner ceremony in the evening.

Although it was a ceremony traditionally organized, concerted efforts must be made to organize the ceremony successfully as it was a national level event. Special emphasis must be placed on closing security loopholes. Moreover, priority must also be given to creating a healthy environment for all participants. By taking lessons of advantages and disadvantages of previous national level independence days and union days, concerted efforts must be made by all to organize the 76th Anniversary Independence Day (2024) ceremony.

Then, chairmen and officials of sub-committee for state flag raising and state flag saluting parade sub-committee, for organizing, preparation and invitation of state flag saluting ceremony, for hosting reception and dinner for Independence Day, for setting off fireworks, for launching decorated drones at the dinner, for information, for reception of Independence Day messages, for health, for organizing sports competitions and for audit reported to the Vice-Senior General on their preparations and tasks to be carried out by them to successfully organizing the 76th Anniversary Independence Day (2024) ceremony.

Then, the Vice-Senior General coordinated the needs over their reports and made concluding remarks, saying it would be necessary to organize poem, essay and extempore competitions in basic education schools and universities in honor of the 76th Anniversary Independence Day. Moreover, it would also be necessary to organize literary talks relating to Independence Day. Sub-committees would be required to exert efforts to prevent financial wastage, to invite those who should be invited, to close loopholes at the national level ceremony and to enable the public to understand the essence of independence.

Then, the meeting concluded successfully.
