Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing inspects Nanthida Multi-purpose Agriculture, Livestock Breeding Farm of Eastern Command

NAY PYI TAW October 21

Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by member of the entourage, the chief minister of Shan State, the commander of the Eastern Command and officials, inspected Nanthida Multi-purpose Agriculture and Livestock Breeding Farm of the Eastern Command this afternoon.

First, Commander Maj-Gen Hla Moe and officers reported to the Senior General on cultivation of monsoon paddy, breeding of layers, broilers, dairy cows, layer ducks, DYL pigs and fish at the farm, trial production of fermented grass, goat breeding, feed mixing, distribution of agriculture and livestock breeding products to battalions and units, and distribution of meat, fish, eggs and vegetables at cheaper prices than prevailing ones to Tatmadaw families and staff at the briefing hall of the command.

After hearing the reports, the Senior General said the aim of implementing multi-purpose agriculture and livestock breeding farms at battalions and units is to contribute to the local economy in some ways or others by distribution of meat, fish and vegetables to officers, other ranks and families of the Tatmadaw at reasonable prices and selling the surplus to local residents at cheaper prices than the prevailing ones. In carrying out agriculture and livestock breeding tasks, it is necessary to systematically calculate the cultivation periods batch by batch to ensure undisrupted production. The cultivation of monsoon paddy must be carried out in accordance with requirements for seeds, land, water and methods to meet the targeted yields. Similarly, summer paddy must be cultivated successfully.

Measures must be taken to expand the breeding of layer ducks. It is necessary to produce quality animal feed needed for local farms by using local raw materials. To boost the production of milk and meat, it is necessary to ensure that required ingredients are included in feed and that water supply is systematic and sufficient. Efforts must be made to boost the production of agriculture and livestock breeding farms to provide sufficient food for families of battalions and units. In carrying out fish breeding, research must be conducted to breed fish species that are compatible with local conditions and their yield is high. Efforts must be made to expand the feed factory of the command to distribute animal feed needed for battalions, units and training schools. As Nanthida Multi-purpose Agriculture and Livestock Breeding Farm has been founded for many years and has a lot of experience, multi-purpose agriculture and livestock breeding farms are required to be model ones and only those who are actually capable of doing so must be assigned to the farms. If production costs can be reduced as much as possible and products can be distributed at cheaper prices, the efforts will contribute a lot to the welfare of the public. As it is a regional command level agriculture and livestock breeding farm, its operations must be proper and land must be utilized beneficially. To utilize water systematically, a proper water supply system must be adopted. Then, the Senior General gave necessary instructions.

Then, the Senior General and party inspected agriculture and livestock breeding tasks of the Nanthida Multi-purpose Agriculture and Livestock Breeding Farm-1 and -2 including breeding of pigs, ducks, cows and layers and responsible officers reported to the Senior General on tasks being carried out.
