NAY PYI TAW October 21

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his entourage, accompanied by the Shan State chief minister, the Eastern Command commander and officials, inspected the functions of Shan Yoma Livestock Breeding Zone in Ayethaya Industrial Zone in Taunggyi this afternoon.

At the briefing hall of the livestock breeding zone, Dr Win Zin Maung, head of the State Livestock and Veterinary Department, reported on data about that zone and livestock operations in the zone, the establishment of a working committee within the zone, cooperation with the relevant ministries and departments and care organizations for animal health, breeding of layers, the increased number of farms and chickens in the zone, distribution of chicken eggs from Shan State (South) to other regions and states, the operation of high-tech layer farms and awareness-raising measures on diseases that may occur within the livestock zone.

After hearing the report, the Senior General asked questions about the production, feeding, and adequate access to food in the livestock zone. He then said he came here in order to fulfill and encourage the needs of the livestock zone. Ayethaya Industrial Zone has been established to engage in industrial operations based on local agricultural and livestock products. Although it was first intended to provide dairy farming to reduce the importation of milk and dairy products from abroad, he said he was glad to see that layer farming that locals take greater interest in is being carried out successfully.

The distribution of chicken eggs from Shan Yoma Livestock Breeding Zone on a nationwide scale when the COVID-19 outbreak and political changes caused  difficulties has contributed to a certain extent. Necessary assistance will be provided for the extension of farming. Nationwide, egg demand is on a daily basis and if it is possible to meet market demand, it will also reduce the price of eggs. Measures must be taken to establish more livestock breeding zones by systematically calculating daily needs of meat, fish and eggs based on the country’s population.

Shan State (South) is already in a position to operate a feedstuff factory to meet the needs of livestock. As there are also local raw materials, a feedstuff factory needs to operate systematically and distribute feedstuffs on a region wide and nationwide scale.

Ayethaya Industrial Zone is a major distribution center of eggs throughout the country.

As well as conventional methods modern methods are necessary for the expansion of farming.

Advanced poultry farming with the Evaporated Cooling System requires large investment, but it will be fully bio-secure and will have good yields and high quality eggs. For the zone development, the State will provide necessary aid, so contacts can be made with the relevant departments, ministries, and state levels, said the Senior General.

Then, the Senior General and party inspected high-tech chicken breeding with the Evaporated Cooling System at Dr Sai Lon’s farm in Shan Yoma Livestock Breeding Zone, and discussed needs for the development of the country’s livestock sector.
