Nay Pyi Taw December 11

Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met with senior officer instructors and faculty members from PyinOoLwin Station at the convocation hall of the Defense Services Academy in PyinOoLwin this afternoon.

Also present at the ceremony were Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Moe Aung, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Tun Aung, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the commander of Central Command, commandants of DSA, Defense Services Technological Academy and Tatmadaw training depots, senior officer instructors and faculty members.

Start of training must be systematic in line with good start can accomplish in end

In his speech, the Senior General said that the DSA aims to produce physical and mental qualified officers. In line with the saying which goes:

Good start can accomplish in end, basic training must be systematic. Primarily, although the DSA is to produce military leaders, they are not enough to have capability of military affairs alone. So, the DSA is training them to be well-versed in physical and mental strength through literary subjects.

The Tatmadaw has established not only DSA but other colleges and academies as well as officer training schools in order to turn out military officers. Those who graduated from these training schools are serving excellent performances and many military officers were conferred titles and medals for their performances.

DSA gives training to officers to have military skills and university academic subjects to cadets to platoon commander level. The academy conducts military training and university academic subjects to them. Only when they are qualified in training will the academy turn out highly qualified leaders. If so, those officers can dutifully serve their assignments in the battle fields.

Hence, it is necessary to turn out the officers who can put records in battle fields and work arenas.

Preparations made for shaping prowess Tatmadaw with farsightedness

Efforts were made for development of military technology and equipment in conformity with the current era in order to improve combat power and combat capability in the modern wars. Preparations were made to become a capable Tatmadaw. Military officers were sent abroad to study advanced technologies and some of them are learning it at present.

Efforts are being made to nurture necessary human resources for building a modern Tatmadaw.

It is necessary to turn out qualified officers rather than the quantities in conducting the training. As the academy is to produce military leaders, the four-year period is enough for giving military training and university academic subjects since training has started.

Upon completion of the training, cadets need to have youth leader behaviors. Hence, the academy must give training starting from the first year to them to be a good officer.

It is necessary to supervise the cadets in all measures. Training must be given to them not to culture shirking spirit and indulgence. If all make collaborative efforts, they can turn out qualified military officers.

With regard to literary education, although ordinary degrees were conferred on the cadets in the past, the cadets and officers have access to obtain PhD at present. Some officers go abroad to further studies. The academy is providing training to the cadets to have wisdom. Those trained by Tatmadaw training depots are able to dutifully serve military duties as well as other duties for the State. Military leaders are to serve the State duties with mental capability so as to contribute to the State to some extent.

Reading will polish leaders with mental capability

Reading can contribute to life of Tatmadaw members on one hand, so they have to always read. University academic measures are taken for improvement of literary knowledge as well a critical thinking.

It is necessary to give training to trainees to have same attitudes and good practices of basic thinking.

The Senior General stressed the need to give physical and mental training to the trainees to have health and fitness.

They have to eat meals as these meals are managed under systematic calculation for calories to enable trainees to have physical strengths. So, officials need to serve them with full volume of meals for trainees to have health and fitness. Those who would be leaders must have physical and mental capabilities. They have to avoid indulgence. Extreme drinking can harm health and may cause unnecessary events and social measures. As such, they have to control themselves for drinking as well as control their trainees. An emphasis must be placed on controlling all for drinking.

They need to have nutritious foods. They must have proper physical structures in conformity with their age. So, it is necessary to conduct training for trainees from the basic behaviors.

If so, trainees must have proper physical strength. Good training must be given to cadets as well as instructors must be idol for them.

Qualified training to turn out military leaders on whom the State and the Tatmadaw rely

The Senior General stressed the need for taking care of training session. Only when they give systematic training can cadets dutifully serve their assignments in the battlefields.

For sport competitions, training must be given to trainees to have a good practice for applying their skills and talents with physical strength. The DSA is turning out military leaders with consideration and braveness.

So, it is necessary to train the trainees to systematically culture the spirit of consideration.

Proper training can turn out military leaders on whom the State and the Tatmadaw rely. As such, an emphasis must be placed for turning out the leaders who have physical and mental capabilities in making decisions.
