Ceremony to hoist golden umbrella, vane and diamond orb and consecration of ancient Naypan Lapan Pagoda at Seinsarbin Village, Zeyathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw held

 

Nay Pyi Taw January 3

    A ceremony to hoist the diamond orb and consecration of the ancient Naypan Lapan Pagoda at Seinsarbin Village, Zeyathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, was held this morning, attended by Sayadaws led by Patron of Pali Tekkatho of Mingala Zeyon Monastery Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Bhaddanta Vimala Buddhi.

Present were Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Joint SAC Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo and wife, SAC members and wives, union level officials, union ministers and wives, the Nay Pyi Taw Council chair and wife, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and wives, the Nay Pyi Taw Command commander, donors, guests, members of religious associations and local people.

First, the Senior General offered a meal in the emerald bowl, fruits, flowers, water and lights to the Buddha Image in the Maha Mingala pavilion in the compound of the pagoda.

He then enshrined the relics in the diamond orb.

The ceremony was opened by reciting nomotassa three times. The congregation led by the Senior General and wife received the Five Precepts from Pali Sayadaw and lay devotees presented paritta flowers, water, threads, and sand to Sayadaws.

Syadaws then recited Parittas.

The lay devotees took the paritta water, threads, and sand and spread them in the pagoda compound.

The Senior General and wife offered the golden umbrella, the vane, and the diamond orb to the Buddha through Pali Sayadaw. They also presented offertories to the Sayadaw. The Joint SAC Secretary and SAC members presented offertories to the Buddhist monks.

Pali Sayadaw delivered a sermon and the Senior General and wife and party shared the merits gained.

The Senior General and wife and party conveyed the golden umbrella, the vane and the diamond orb on board the Mingala palanquin and went round the pagoda clockwise.

At the auspicious time, the Senior General and party hoisted the diamond orb, the vane, and the different tiers of umbrella on top the pagoda and sprinkled scented water on them.

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and Daw Kyu Kyu Hla threw confetti to mark the success of the ceremony.

The Sayadaws consecrated the pagoda and the ceremony came to an end with the recitation of Buddha sasanam ciramtithatu three times.

The Senior General and wife unveiled the stone tablet, sprinkled scented water on it and rang the golden bell.

According to the estimation of the experts of Archaeology Department of Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, four Naypan Lapan pagodas were built during the Nyaungyan period over 300 years ago.

The father and uncle of the incumbent principal Sayadaw Bhaddanta Aloka of Thukhayadana monastery found it and excavated it in 2005. For the promotion, propagation and perpetuation of Buddhism, preservation and protection of ancient heritages, the pagodas were renovated by the collective donations of Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) families and wellwisher citizens led by the Senior General and wife. The ceremony to hoist the diamond orb and to consecrate the pagodas was successfully held today.
