The Central Committee for Organizing the 77th Anniversary Union Day held its meeting at the meeting hall of State Administration Council Chairman’s Office here this afternoon, addressed by Chairman of the central committee SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win.

The Vice-Senior General said it is the first meeting of the central committee to observe the Union Day in accord with five national objectives -- all the national races to safeguard the Union with Union spirit for its perpetuation, the government, Tatmadaw and people to join hands for achieving national peace and stability and rule of law fully, to promote public inclusive farming-based production businesses and MSMEs for socioeconomic development of national people, the entire national people to make collective efforts for national prosperity and food sufficiency, which is the State’s vision, and all national people to collectively strive for emergence of a modern and developed nation and a Union based on democracy and federalism.

Based on the previous experiences in observing annual national events like the Union Day, the relevant committees and subcommittees should ensure perfectiveness of the event that would be free from all kinds of defects, weakness and problems through coordinated efforts.

Seven Union Day observance committees and eight subcommittees had already approved appropriate work procedures and received directives before this meeting. In this regard, they should present their accomplishments in detail. Although, COVID-19 is no more a serious case, it still could cause infection more or less. Hence, all the national brethren and guests should observe the safety rules issued by the Ministry of Health.

The Union Day must be organized in accord with its five objectives and Our Three Main National Causes – non-disintegration of Union, non-disintegration of national solidarity and perpetuation of sovereignty with the principle aim of achieving national unity and peace. The entire nation must also take part in harmony and unison on this occasion.

The 8th Anniversary of the NCA signed by the government, Tatmadaw and EAOs to initiate a political culture of ending the over 70-year old ethnic armed conflicts through dialogue was held on a grand-scale on 15 October 2023. As Union Day is a national event, serious attention is required in conducting health and security checks.

Tighter security measures must be set up.

In carrying out tasks by respective committees and subcommittees, rehearsals must be held and security measures must be enhanced during the ceremony. Rehearsals must be held to prevent security weaknesses.

MSME exhibition booths should be set up with the aim of displaying varieties of local products from MSMEs, which will contribute to the economy of the country, in states and regions manufactured under the slogan One Region, One Products during the Union Day ceremony, sharing technologies, encouraging the public to acquire knowledge and to buy local products, understanding the nature of products and receiving good advice for future operations. Better arrangements can be made by offering local food and entertainment programs together with the exhibition booths. Development of MSMEs can be achieved through the exhibition. Positive competition among manufacturers can lead to production of new quality items that can be exported and MSMEs will further develop.

Health and security tasks must be carried out strictly and unusual incidents must be known in real time and emergency plans must be developed and rehearsed to solve problems.

The Ministry of Information is required to hold talks about the Union Day in radio, newspapers and television ahead of the ceremony. Committees and sub-committees are required to discuss completed tasks and future plans at today's meeting.
