Afterward, the Senior General met with the rector, pro-rectors and faculty members at the meeting hall of the university and the rector reported to the Senior General on educational activities of the university including salient points of the university courses, diplomas and degrees offered by the university, students learning respective academic disciplines, appointments of faculty members and management staff, construction of hostels for students, faculty members and food and accommodation provided and construction of the library and teaching buildings.

Then, Union Minister for Education Dr Nyunt Pe reported to the Senior General on the needs for teaching and learning aids of the university while the chief minister reported on tasks carried out for pleasantness and cleanliness of and around the university.

Afterward, the Senior General discussed tasks necessary for the development of the education sector, saying the university has been in existence for 65 years and must be able to keep abreast of Yangon University and Mandalay University in terms of teaching. As university education is meant for acquisition of knowledge, efforts must be made to teach students to enable them to stand on their own feet in their lives conveniently.

The environment of basic education primary and high schools is quite different from that of university and university education is meant not only for academic disciplines but also for social relations with the society. In carrying out teaching and learning tasks at the basic education level, the emphasis is placed on teaching while the emphasis is shifted on studying at the higher education level.

Thinking skills acquired from experience and knowledge during the university environment must be applied in real lives successfully. Therefore, efforts must be made to teach students systematically to enable them to acquire correct thinking and academic disciplines by placing emphasis on instilling fine fundamental spirit in them.

The emphasis must be placed on nurturing qualified graduates who are competent in their respective academic subjects.

Faculty members who are responsible for teaching are required to study consistently to meet their qualifications.

Only when faculty members are well versed in their academic discipline, will they be able to nurture outstanding students who will be able to apply their knowledge in their real lives practically.

As today is the era of democracy, they are required to abide by the law and discipline and to possess economic knowledge for economic development. Therefore, law courses are offered at every university with the aim of enabling human resources who will lead the country in the future to be competent in the academic discipline.

Similarly, basic economics courses are offered with the aim of enabling them to acquire economic concepts. Our objective is to empower graduates who have studied at universities to make their socio-economic lives and environment better. It is necessary to promote teaching arts of thinking to cultivate competent philosophers, who make up an essential sector, in addition to nurturing scientists for development of the country.

As the university has been in existence for a long time and is a prestigious one, it must be able to be proud of its graduates and to nurture outstanding ones in their fields. Prestige and magnificence of the university must be enhanced so that students who have studied there can be proud of their alma mater.

As university is a place of learning, its libraries must offer a variety of books from various fields.

The government has been promoting education from multiple sectors and offering academic support. It is necessary to perform duties for the country rather than for the government, which has assumed responsibilities of the state temporarily.

Public service personnel are responsible for the country all their lives. A government implements its policies for the betterment of the country and public service personnel are required to perform their duties for the betterment of the country.

Therefore, faculty members are equired to perform their duties responsibly not out of political perspectives but out of perspectives for the interests of the country to nurture educated human resources for the country.

Then, the Senior General cordially greeted the rector, prorectors and faculty members.

Afterward, the Senior General and party inspected the library and the university and gave necessary instructions on reports of the officials.
