Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla attend 2024 Golden Dragon Chinese New Year Festival

The 2024 Golden Dragon Chinese New Year Festival was celebrated at National Sports Stadium 1 Thuwunna in Yangon this evening, attended by Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla.
First, the Senior General and wife were warmly welcomed by Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Chen Hai, distinguished guests and officials.
The Senior General and wife and attendees arrived at the venue of the festival.
The Senior General and the ambassador formally inaugurated the New Year Festival The 2024 Golden Dragon Chinese New Year Festival was celebrated at National Sports Stadium 1 Thuwunna in Yangon this evening, attended by Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla.
First, the Senior General and wife were warmly welcomed by Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Chen Hai, distinguished guests and officials.
The Senior General and wife and attendees arrived at the venue of the festival.
The Senior General and the ambassador formally inaugurated the New Year Festival presented cash awards to them.
The Senior General and wife and attendees looked around the China Town Traditional Cultural booths and food exhibitions.
They also watched the New Year commemorative friendship table tennis matches between the selections of Myanmar Table Tennis Federation and Chinese diplomats. The union minister for Sports and Youth Affairs presented bouquets to table tennis teams.
At the New Year dinner, the eyes of a traditional Chinese dragon figure were painted and activated. The Senior General and wife painted the eyes of the dragon in accord with Chinese tradition. Then, Chinese traditional dragon dance troupe and lion dance troupe performed dances.
In his New Year greetings, the Senior General said Chinese New Year was celebrated not only in China, but also in the whole world on a grand scale.
According to the Chinese zodiac, the Year of the Dragon comes once every 12 years, and it brings good luck, wealth, authority power, and business fortunes.
So, grand ceremonies are held and important decisions are made in the Year of the Dragon.
As regards the China-Myanmar relations, there are historical records that a goodwill delegation from Pyu-era Myanmar visited China. Those records indicate that China-Myanmar relations were strong since the pre-Pyu period.
The People’s Republic of China was founded one year and nine months after Myanmar regained independence, and Myanmar is the first country to acknowledge the PRC. Since then Myanmar has been constantly adhering to the One China Policy. Myanmar is also the country that supported the Global Security Initiative (GSI) of the PRC President Xi Jinping the earliest.
The two countries have maintained good neighborly practice of mutual understanding in accord with the five principles of peaceful co-existence visionary leaders of both countries have adhered to since yore. Hence, governments and peoples of the two countries always solve occasional problems through peaceful means and further strengthen relations.
When it comes to Myanmar affairs, China also stands as a good neighbor and friend throughout the successive eras.
The Senior General expressed special thanks to PRC and Chinese people for their correct stand for Myanmar’s internal affairs in the international arena.
All global countries are striving for their security, peace and stability and development. They form organizations inside and outside the region for ensuring friendly ties, understanding, and trust among these countries in order to develop all sectors.
Within more than seven years period, Mekong-Lancing cooperation fund covered implementation of many projects in various sectors in order to contribute much to socioeconomic development of member countries. Myanmar is actively taking part in eradication of transnational crimes, illegal drug production and trafficking, human trafficking, online gambling and online scams, and forging rule of law.
The Senior General expressed his belief that greater progress will emerge in bilateral cooperation, peace and stability as well as development undertakings in border regions through collaborative efforts of China and Myanmar.
As happy scenes of people in China are seen in the Chinese New Year period, the Senior General said he also enjoyed their happiness and pleasure.
The Senior General requested China and Chinese people to continuously assist in peace and stability measures and development undertakings of Myanmar, as China and Myanmar has been cementing the society with peaceful co-existence for years through thick and thin.
Significantly, the United Nations celebrated the Chinese New Year day starting this year setting the day as the office holiday, showing the trust of global countries over China for its active and unbiased activities in the international issues. China and Myanmar relations cannot be eased due to good relations and common culture as well as contiguous natural areas in addition to Thanlwin and Mekong rivers.
The Senior General called for establishment of a peaceful and prosperous society through friendly Paukphaw relations and compassion with China since ancient monarchical era.
The Senior General and wife exchanged 2024 golden dragon Chinese New Year gifts with Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar.
The Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar expressed his thanks for attendance of the Senior General and wife to the New Year ceremony. He prayed for all guests to be proper and powerful on the New Year occasion. He said that as China and Myanmar poured out concerted efforts in all sectors in previous years, both countries could cement bilateral trust and friendly ties.
He pledged to serve interests of both countries and people with peace, fraternity and mutual respect from the New Year on, cementing the Swemyo Paukphaw relations between the two countries and striving for development of people from China and Myanmar.
The Senior General and wife had dinner in honor of the Chinese New Year together with dignitaries. During the dinner, Hteinchon national cultural troupe, Chongqing cultural troupe and DeShong literature and fine arts cultural troupe from China performed traditional songs and dances including drum dance and face-changing dance whereas Myawaddy cultural troupe under the Directorate of Public Relations and Psychological Warfare and artistes presented song and dances in addition to China-Myanmar goodwill songs.
The Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs awarded first and second prize winners in the China-Myanmar goodwill men’s open table tennis tournament to mark the 2024 Chinese New Year Festival 2024 and the Chief Minister of Yangon Region, prizes to joint third prize winners.
The Senior General, wife and the Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar presented flower baskets to artistes from Chinese traditional dance troupe, Myawaddy cultural troupe under the Directorate of Public Relations and Psychological Warfare, artistes, and goodwill table tennis players.
Then, all Myanmar artistes and guests collectively sang the song “let all flowers blossom”.
After the ceremony, the Senior General and wife cordially greeted the attendees.
