Local residents at the meeting reported on production of value-added agriculture goods and modern machinery requirements, undertakings to develop farming, and requirements of the departments.
In discussing regional development, the Senior General said the aim of the visit is to facilitate regional development undertakings through correct means.
Hence, short-to-the-point reports on the requirements are needed.
Departmental personnel, local military units and local people should harmoniously join hands for further improvement of the local socio-economy. The government will fulfill all the needs in the shortest possible time. The Senior General had visited Kengtung very often and successfully observed the centenary Maha Myat Muni Pagoda which was built by Kengtun chieftain Sao Konkyauk Innhtalyan.
Cornerstone laying of the replica of the chieftain’s hawnan palace was held in the morning.
Renovation of decaying hawnan in Mongpon was fully completed in February 2021 and that of Theinni was completed over 60 percent. Every ethnic race has history. Independence struggle was led by General Aung San.
There are also national race leaders who served national interest. Their complete history must be recorded. Certain world countries displayed utensils and buildings of their past successive monarchs in accord with their tradition.
The program is to record the history of national races. When completed, Kengtun hawnan will display the utensils of the olden days. National pride can be preserved by identifying history. In the past, transport was poor in Kengtung. The Senior General has made efforts to improve transport there.
Likewise, Kengtung Airport was upgraded. Shan State (East) has many resources to country and food sufficiency so that all the people can improve their lives happily. It is necessary for all to live in peace with the teachings of religion. There is a need to make full use of existing water and land resources for agriculture. There are difficulties in the production of fertilizer in our country. In order to overcome these difficulties, bio-fertilizers can be obtained if breeding in cage culture is carried out systematically. It is necessary to feed the animals and feed them properly. Meat production will increase by producing essential nutrients from agriculture for the animals and feeding them.
Livestock production can be improved and products can be manufactured and exported to foreign countries.
It is necessary to carry out higher education activities as skills and knowledge for the development of agriculture, are needed. In eastern Shan State, education was found to be weak due to language barriers and various other factors. We need to encourage education for the development of the region. As today is the age of education, Shan State needs to provide more education. We are working for higher education throughout the country, and we are working for the betterment of the national interest and the education of the individual. The abundance of educated people is the key to democratization and the good future of the country and internationally, efforts are being made to improve higher education in each country.
Therefore, we need to constantly strive for the emergence of good human resources for the development of the region and the country.
With regard to cross-border trade, we believe that trade surpluses are now growing and will continue to grow. Efforts should be made to export high quality agricultural products when exporting agricultural products, and to try to enrich human resources in order to do so. If there are more job opportunities in our country, there will be fewer workers who went to go to abroad to work.
As we did during the third wave of COVID-19 in related with the disease prevention and control, we were able to overcome the crisis thanks to the generous donations and cooperation of all the people. COVID-19 has not yet been cured and about 6 percent are found to be infected. Vaccination has exceeded expectations by 50 percent. However, care must be taken and COVID-19 disease is not a cure-all, so prevention is the best course possible. The Senior General called on the departmental staffs working in the area and local people to work for the development of the region by consulting on activities that will really benefit the region.
Afterwards, the Senior General handed over gifts to state and district level officials and township elders in Kengtung, Mongpyin and Kholan townships in southern Shan State and received the respective township administrators.
After the meeting, the Senior General and party cordially greeted departmental officials and township elders.
