Vice Chairman of State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win addresses coordination meeting on COVID-19 control and emergency response committee

The COVID-19 control and emergency response committee held a coordination meeting at the meeting hall of the Office of the SAC Chairman in Nay Pyi Taw at 2 pm today, with an address by Chairman of the Committee Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win.
Also present at the meeting were Union Ministers General Mya Tun Oo, Lt-Gen Soe Htut, Admiral Tin Aung San, U Myint Kyaing and Dr Thet Thet Khaing, Deputy Ministers Maj-Gen Khun Thant Zaw Htoo, U Tun Ohn, U Zaw Win and Dr Aye Tun and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief together with the chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, region and state chief ministers and officials through video conferencing.
In his address, the Vice-Senior General said that infection of COVID-19 is on the rise gradually from the late January 2022.
Myanmar citizens stranded in global countries were brought back and some foreigners arrived in the country for serving the duties. COVID-19 positive patients were found among them. Some foreign returnees via border gates were also found the positive results. Current Omicron virus is higher infection speed than the others. The infection rate on 3 February 2022 was 1.45 percent but it reached 8.98 percent on 16 February.
Despite restricting the measures related to COVID-19, an infection of Omicron is gradually increasing. Yangon Region is top on the chart of infection rate with 20.99 percent. As Yangon Region is a hub for arrivals and departure of the persons from foreign countries as well as the foreign returnees via border gates, the separate SoPs were issued for taking restrictions. In accord with the guidance of the Prime Minister, the quarantine centres, positive centres and treatment centres have been prepared at military hospitals and people’s hospitals. Moreover, arrangements are being made to supply of oxygen without shortages.
The government and the Ministry of Health make necessary arrangements for prevention, control and treatment activities of COVID-19 and supervise all the measures with issuing the rules and regulations and directives. People need to strictly abide by the COVID-19 health guidelines. In the third wave of the pandemic, the decline of COVID-19 was based on efforts of the people in conscientiously abiding by the restricted rules and regulations related to the pandemic.
Reportedly, Omicron virus is higher inspection rate than Delta variant for four times.
So, the people are requested to strictly follow the COVID-19 restrictions in the fourth wave.
Region and state chief ministers need to cooperate with relevant organizations in raising the health awareness of the people and request the people to abide by the prescribed disciplines.
Moreover, they have to beef up the measures of health awareness and supervision for restriction of the disease in respective townships and wards. The SoPs on restrictions for COVID-19 have been issued for the people. The campaigns on raising public awareness of COVID-19 and meetings should be staged in regions and states including Nay Pyi Taw Council for the people to follow the restrictions in individuals, and these tasks must be undertaken as a public movement It is necessary to disseminate the knowledge about infection of Omicron around the environment to the people in various ways and means.
People in individuals need to follow the health guidelines for COVID-19.
Secretary of the committee Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Soe Htut reported on infection of Omicron variant in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area and regions and states, findings of virus, mortality rate, outbreak of Omicron in neighbouring countries, prevention and control of COVID-19 virus at checkpoints and health examination, progress of anti-COVID-19 vaccination, future measures of vaccination, completion of inoculating the booster at Union ministries, union level organizations, regions and states, production of oxygen, arrangements for providing treatments to positive patients, and preparation at quarantine centres.
The union ministers, the chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, region and state chief ministers, deputy ministers and officials discussed prevention, control and treatment activities for Omicron variant of COVID-19 pandemic in respective sectors.
Later, the Vice-Senior General reviewed the discussions and attended to the needs and gave a concluding remark.
